Substance Abuse Suicide Prevention Program
The Substance Abuse and Suicide Prevention (SASP) program formerly known as the Methamphetamine and Suicide Prevention Initiative (MSPI) was awarded to the Division of Behavioral and Mental Health Services (DBMHS) in February 2017 and will be funded to September 2021. The SASP initiative promotes the use and development of evidence-based and practice-based prevention education.
The 4 Main Goals of the Grant:
Goal #1
Implement evidence-based and practice-based approaches to build resiliency, promote positive development, and increase self-sufficiency behaviors among Native youth.
Goal #2
To promote family engagement.
Goal #3
Increase access to prevention activities for youth to prevent methamphetamine use and other substance misuse disorders that contribute to suicidal behaviors, in culturally appropriate ways.
Goal #4
Hire additional Behavioral Health staff.
