WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. – The Division of Behavioral & Mental Health Services (DBMHS) wishes you love, hope and happiness this holiday season. We hope your family and loved ones feel the warmth of Christmas, and that your mind and spirit feel the love and joy of the season.
This year, to celebrate the season, DBMHS stayed active in the community by hosting a Breakfast with Santa, a Holiday Radio Forum on KTNN, and events for our Building Communities of Hope (BCOH) partners and awesome staff. Here are some of the highlights from our outreach and team building efforts this holiday season:
- Breakfast with Santa – On December 23, DBMHS, Fort Defiance Outpatient Treatment Center & Office Of Dine Youth, Fort Defiance staff served breakfast to the community families while they enjoyed making Christmas arts and crafts they took home. Santa was happy to visit with the kids and his elves gave out toys for them to enjoy. Everyone left with their tummies full and gifts to share.
- Holiday Radio Forum – Also on the evening of December 23,DBMHS and its panel of clinical, traditional and faith-based counselors took over KTNN radio to discuss how to cope with holiday hardships. The forum lasted two hours and covered DBMHS services, holiday greef, and also topics asked by listeners. KTNN listeners gave positive feedback about the forum and were grateful for the information that was provided.
- BCOH End of Year Celebration – On December 12, DBMHS expressed its appreciation to its partners in the Building Communities of Hope coalition. The event included lunch, presentations, and year-end overview to show appreciation for all the various programs and organizations representatives involved in the Building Communities of Hope initiative.
- DBMHS Annual Staff Meeting & Banquet – On December 17. DBMHS meeting provided an opportunity to further develop DBMHS valued employees and show gratitude during the banquet that included songs, presentations, and good food.
DBMHS understands that the end of the year can be trying times for those living and working on the Navajo Nation and surrounding communities. DBMHS is a resource and partner in combating behavioral and mental health problems such as substance abuse, violence, and depression in native communities.
